When PSI Capital was looking to an acquire a legacy entertainment industry brand, Chemistry Productions co-created a target list along with a business and operating plan for a long-term revamp of an established and respected web 1.0 platform.
ARTISTdirect offered a unique pairing of exclusive content libraries, assets, trademarks and copyrights and after extensive negotiations, the company was purchased from Relativity Media in 2015. Stefan Goldby then led an operational team to rebrand, reposition and (ultimately) relaunch ARTISTdirect as outlet focused on music for the market’s silent majority – fans over the age of 30.
In an initial 2 year transition phase, Stefan polished and published more than 2,000 pieces of written and photographic original content and executive-produced more than 700 artist interviews including Garbage, The Roots, Moby, The Killers, Kaskade, Pixies, The Cranberries, Pentatonix, The National, KT Tunstall, Mastodon, David Gray, Maroon 5, The Go-Gos, Linkin Park, K. Flay, Gary Numan and Zola Jesus.
The transition phase has also seen beta sites built, business development partners that include Discogs.com and BandsInTown created and the new Music Notes email newsletter building a weekly reach of 15,000 subscribers.
Currently, ARTISTdirect’s team are now painstakingly devoted to an extensive repackaging and republishing effort in order to bring the millions of pages of legacy content into line with modern digital experiences, SEO considerations and multi-platform access.
